We call this project, "A woodland retreat." Some features include gracefully curved Argillite dry-stacked stonewalls. One of the walls has the unique built-in boulder seat for bird watching. The landscaping consists of shade loving perennials such as native Ferns, Sweet Woodruff, and Coral Bells. The centerpiece of the space is a large Japanese Holly with a boulder edge. The Sweet Woodruff is staggered appropriately throughout the circle creating a wonderful pattern. Up lighting for this area completes the look. The parking court area is where the other retaining wall resides. One last feature is a circular Moss Garden surrounded by stone. This garden is hidden below the residence and offers not only seclusion, but also the soothing sounds of the gurgling stream. The whole space is enhanced with landscape lighting for those twilight cocktails.
